  Blackberry Enterprise Activation
 
  •  Activating BlackBerry Enterprise on your Blackberry Mobile Phones
   
  1. Open the Blackberry Enterprise Activation screen, which might be under, Options, then  Advanced Options then Enterprise Activation.

    IMPORTANT:
    Before you do Enterprise Activation, DO A BACKUP FIRST!

  2. Type the Email Address and Enterprise Activation Password:
    e.g. Email : email@email.com,  Actication Password : 00000
  3. Once you have typed the email address and enterprise activation password, open the Menu and click Activate.


  4. You will then receive the following message on your Blackberry Smartphone.

  •  BlackBerry Desktop Manager Installation
   
  1. Run BlackBerry User tools from included CD or from downloaded installer. Do not attach device until instructed to do so.
    BlackBerry Desktop Software InstallShield Wizard

    1. Click Next
    2. Select USA (English) and click Next
    3. Select I accept the terms of the license agreement and click Next
    4. Enter User Name and Organization
    5. Select Install this application for: Anyone and click Next
    6. Accept the default location and click Next
    7. Select Typical and click Next
    8. Select BlackBerry Enterprise Server or BlackBerry Desktop Redirector and click Next
    9. Select Microsoft Exchange and click Next
    10. Select Redirect messages using the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and click Next
    11. Check Start desktop manager automatically...
    12. Check Create a shortcut for desktop manager..., and click Next
    13. Click Install
    14. Click Finish
    15. Restart station

  •  BlackBerry Activation using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
   
  1. Ensure that IT Services BlackBerry Administrators have added your Exchange account to the BlackBerry Server and have sent you an activation password.
    Also, ensure that the device has been activated through your wireless provider and that the wireless connection is enabled on the device.

    1. Launch BlackBerry Desktop Manager
    2. Attach BlackBerry device
    3. Select Options > Connection Settings
    4. Click Detect
    5. Click OK three times
    6. Click OK when prompted to generate a new encryption key
    7. Move mouse in random fashion to generate a new key

    Synchronization to Exchange mail server should begin.

  •  BlackBerry Backup Guide using Desktop Manager
   
  1. Open Blackberry Desktop Manager and click on Backup and Restore.


  2. Under the category Backup, click on the Back up button.


  3. By default, the filename is generated as per today’s date but you can change this as you deem fit.  Click on Save after choosing a filename.


  4. Blackberry will now backup your phone as shown on the next few screens:

  •  BlackBerry Enterprise Activation Process OTA (Over The Air)
   
  1. Open the Enterprise Activation program on the handheld and type the appropriate email address and activation password that were provided in the activation email.
    On your BlackBerry, Select Options, -> Enterprise Activation, Options -> Advanced Options -> Enterprise Activation, or Settings -> Options -> Advanced Options -> Enterprise Activation

    Note:
    Please make sure that the 3G logo on your device has a capital “G” as this would tell us that the device is already BES activated.  If you see a small “g” i.e. 3g, please contact your mobile service provided and re-verify your BES activation status.

  2. This activation password is used only to activate your mailbox. The password is invalid after five unsuccessful activation attempts, and if you do not activate your handheld 48 hours after the password is created, the password expires and cannot be used. When the handheld is successfully activated, the password is removed from the BlackBerry Enterprise Server.


  3. Wireless Enterprise Activation application: Enter password


  4. Wireless Enterprise Activation application: Click Activate

    Note:
    After your click Activate on your Handheld, your device sends activation request: The handheld sends an activation request email to the user’s email account. This email contains information about the handheld such as routing information and the handheld’s activation public keys.

    Server sends activation response: The BlackBerry Enterprise Server sends the handheld an activation email response that contains routing information about the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and the server’s public keys.

    Device and server establish and verify keys: The BlackBerry Enterprise Server and the handheld establish a master encryption key. Both the BlackBerry Enterprise Server and the handheld verify their knowledge of the master key to each other. If key confirmation succeeds, the activation proceeds and further communication is encrypted.

  5. BlackBerry handheld displays verification status.


  6. Service books sent: The BlackBerry Enterprise Server sends appropriate service books (for example, messaging service book, wireless calendar service book, browser service book) to the handheld. You can now send and receive messages on the handheld.

  7. Data loaded: BlackBerry Enterprise Server sends the following data to your handheld:


  8. BlackBerry handheld receives data:
    a. calendar entries
    b. address book entries
    c. tasks
    d. memos
    e. email messages

  9. Activation is complete!

  •  Restoring Old Data using BlackBerry Desktop Manager
   
  1. Open Blackberry Desktop Manager and go to Backup and Restore.  Under the Restore category, click on the Restore button.

  2. Choose your most recent backup and click on Open button after.

  3. Blackberry Desktop manager will confirm the data to be restored and you only have the option to choose Yes or No.  Please choose Yes.

  4. After the Restore has completed, kindly check your blackberry for the restored contacts.
